Edwardo and Roxy moved. Not sure why. Gerry did also. Edwardo may have bought a house. He did at some point on Prospect Avenue near Virginia. He and Roxy split up. Jerry may have moved back in with his family. I found an older woman to move into the front room. Not sure how - maybe I put an ad in the advertiser. She was good looking, great figure, maybe in mid-forties, nice personality. She had a boyfriend. I remember I was painting in the back when he was over and he came back to see what I was doing. I asked him what he did for a living. He said, "Oh - I really can't say". "What do you mean?" He lowered voice and spoke in the hushed tones of secret confidence. "It's classified" he said. "What are you CIA?" "We are not allowed to confirm or deny", he replied as some nonsense. I did not think of it at the time. Heard it, I think on the radio some years later. Married guys who claim they are CIA as cover for girlfriends on the side. He has to go away, secret stuff you know, and goes back to his wife, where in awhile he gives her the same story, and goes back to his girl friend. Ah I wish I had known. I would have loved to say. "Classified - oh you mean you're married".

I don't think I was a painter for very long. Could have been as little as five or six months. The second autumn at Powers, I took a couple of paintings to an exhibition at Pier Thirty-Nine, the old World War II military transport docks and buildings, now converted to a city arts and crafts center.
