The problem is there is no for certain known future, even as to the next paragraph of how this story is being written, or even what picture will appear on this page, if one in not painting by the numbers. So is the problems of the artist - in this case how to frame it? But that is the art of it, the fun and all the learning. It is art making art, which in the end may be all that it would amount to in any case.

I converted small paintings on paper to large canvas - painting by the numbers. It was a matter of scale. I had little paintings eight by ten inches, and I wanted to make them big. I wanted to try being a big painter, and my frames were anywhere from two by two feet to such as four by six. In the end I realized that the picturettes were probably better small. But how else to find out?

The content was pretty much all done. I had done most of the picturettes in Santa Rosa, which was only about my second year out of the epiphany. I always thought of my painting and sculpting as a museum artist. Never mind that most art gets to museums through private donors. I thought of that. One has to picture where and for what space one's work is intended. Museums of course generally require something of some size. Private buyers are kind of like hoarders, almost no one gets to see the art. On the other hand, that is the only place the money is. But more so, you have to create what people will buy. Found that out trying to sell ceramic flutes at Vaillancourt Fountain.
