They described it in some detail and said it was the most terrifying experiences they had ever or would ever have. Personally I never cared for these sort of black-minded imaginative night events. It doesn't feel good. I prefer broad daylight out of doors machinations, if I am going to engage in such.
During this period George came to see me. We had been neighbors on Winfield. We talked in Jerry's room. I had-had a three day affair with his wife, and she being good friend's with Sonoma, led to our break-up. Not sure why he wanted to talk just then, since the event took place
maybe two or three years before. Maybe he just was curious. He was not in any way hostile. So I told him the story. It was just something I couldn't resist and was not serious. At any rate she was also going out with another guy that same weekend. So I didn't quite understand all what - the hullabaloo !
George told me how he met her. He picked her and another woman up off the street. They were apparently doing some kind of hooker thing, just for kicks
I think he said. He picked them up to get them off the boulevard. In those days he used to go on week or two week long benders. He would get drunk and according to Mistra his wife would just disappear. When he returned he couldn't remember a thing. He would fall into an alcohol black hole.
George and Mistra were neighbors on Winfield, living across the street and up the block in the house that Jerry and Jan first lived I think. He had bought the house. He was an architect from Texas. He was big, tall and ample, very plain and direct spoken.
