The common definition of Conservative is such as, a self-oriented belief in personal responsibility independent of community, limited government, capitalist markets free of government controls, individual liberty as self, pro-gun as self-protection, and the contradictions as anti-individual women's rights of abortion, and a strong national defence which is pro-government and socialist, and the military part ultimately fascist. Primarily this Pseudo-conservative ends up without any controls on Capitalism and Corpogov while oligarchy is the result. Limited controls means progression as the acquisition of more and more by some, and thus not Conservative but pseudo.
While Conservatism is in-reality progressive, the Left which calls itself progressive is really Conservative. The term progressive is defined as favouring or implementing social reform or new, liberal ideas such as
universal healthcare as Socialism, abortion rights pertaining to the All, welfare as Socialism, school choice, gun control again government, anti-pesticide or anti dangerous capitalist corporations, global warming as government limitations on Capitalism, or saving the forests
as less development all of which are Conservative.
Socialism is Conservative. Liberals don't know that and wouldn't want to know it if having the choice. They want what progressives want which is upward mobility and more, and perhaps that is the real reason they call themselves progressives.
All In All
All in all, as evil as corporate capitalism can be and is,
it has a bonding mechanism which holds masses together called money. They have it all except what government collects and they grab a good deal of that as well. If socialists don't know what socialism is, there in not much chance for socialism to become a successful political force.
