04/30/03 Used to be a saying in the 50's, 'All show and no go'. That was a beautiful custom car with the power of a 6-cylinder automatic. Christine Todd Whitman is in the news again, not for being in contempt of court, but for using government employees for her own personal use, primarily to make herself look good. There are excellent professionals and bureaucrats and there are bad, the proportion
being as high as 1 excellent for 9 to 99 bad ones. The bad ones are bad because they don't know the job. For them appearance is the most important thing and 'how do I look?' What they do is play the role with a lot of flourish and style without actually knowing much about what they are doing. When the bad are
doctors, one has a problem. An excellent boss or professional
is concerned with content and not appearance, is not afraid to show that they don't know something in the interest of getting it right, who puts themselves in the position of those they serve, though that may appear less than stellar. As a general rule the emphasis on appearance may indicate ineptitude and where content is a priority appearance is unnecessary.
04/28/03 John 'The Judge' Ashcroft,
the US Attorney General will jail suspected terrorists without charges without access to lawyers, without presenting evidence, will jail people as material witnesses indefinitely without access to lawyers, and plans are on the books in the as yet unlegislated Patriot Act II, for secret arrests. He wants to jail illegal aliens indefinitely. But one thing that you will never see him do, is the jailing of criminal CEO's, no matter how many millions or billions they have stolen from their investors or from the public, without charges, without
lawyers, as material witnesses or by secret arrests,
or in most cases ever at all.
04/26/03 'U.S. broadcasters' coverage of the Iraq war was so unquestioningly patriotic and so lacking in impartiality that it threatened the credibility of America's electronic media', the head of the BBC said on Thursday. What credibility? He don't live here do he. MSNBC (GE & Microsoft) fired Donahue, their top rated program for being too liberal. The only show on the American visual mass media that allows
a strong Democratic Party message (left of Right Wing) is
CNN's Crossfire. And that even has to be countered by the
strongest possible opposing perspectives. Now CNN has cut Crossfire in half from an hour to a half hour. One should
not be surprised if the show disappears completely, in the
not too distant future. But maybe even more surprising is
that this show was ever allowed on in the first place.
04/24/03 France should forget about attempting to compromise with the US. It only makes them look seamy and weak. One should never compromise with the
Right Wing. They consider themselves the superior elite. They want little to do with anyone not like them. Of course if they should need something for some reason, then it is a different story. Suddenly it is all buddy, buddy. And the poor object of convenience may actually believe that they are going to be, or get something elevated out of this alliance. But as soon as they're not needed anymore - adios. Or - if one is really lucky, one might get invited once to the mansion. Then the elite will say afterward, we try to be democratic but these people are just
so crass. Is it true that French kissing has been made illegal in Texas?
04/22/03 In many areas of the world such as the Northern California's Bay Area, the wet lands which used to host millions of birds and myriads of wild life has been reduced by as much as 95%, and been replaced by millions of machines such as cars. The culture of Progressive Materialism has a reverence for dead entities and all things human alone, which
may indicate an absence or narcolepsy of soul.
04/21/03 One of the primary goals of the rich is the transfer of taxes from the wealthy to the poor. Government has to have money to operate. The Republican Party, the alleged party of small government, has increased the size of government spending by a trillion and climbing. The taxes for the rich are decreased and have to be made up by guess who - everyone else. This will be done by fee increases from anything like bridge fares, parking meters, vehicle registration fees, gas taxes, cigarette and alcoholic beverage tax increases, increased sales taxes or school tuition fees, all of which are disproportionately hardest on the poor. Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses - so they can
pay taxes.
04/18/03 The popularity of a US president is always elevated after a successful war. This indicates only that a great deal of people do not have enough conviction to take a position in the first place, or to remain on a losing side. If the poles rise after the war, then obviously there was sizeable pool who changed their minds. After a successful war that goes swimmingly, they want to be
a winner. More fun to crow than to row. Wonder if these people vote not out of conviction but for the best guess winner.
04/17/03 A case could made that the first Jewish vice presidential candidate, and at the same time the first Republican VP candidate, running as a Democrat, lost the election for Gore. He didn't even do what he was suppose to, which was win Florida. To be fair, not all his fault since the election was fixed. Some politicians, where they cannot win in their constituency, because they are of the wrong political philosophy, simply join the party of popularity. So there
are Republicans in the Democratic Party and vice versa.
The attempt to play two ends against the middle, or run
a Democrat for president and Republican as vice president failed. Now Lieberman wants to be maybe the first Republican presidential candidate running as a Democrat. Bush versus Bush lite. Now that's a ticket the Republicans can't lose.
04/15/03 One will probably soon
know as much about Iraq as about Afghanistan. The Ministry
of Mass Distraction will be ordering the US media to divert
its attention elsewhere. The Ministry has already stated that
the elusive Iraqi weapons of mass destruction were shifted
to Syria before the war. If the intentions for Iraq by the
US administration are indeed perfidious, or the humanitarian mess in Iraq is an embarrassment, or they intend to abandon
the heavy spending in Iraq as they did in Afghanistan, or
the US economy is in such a laggard state that the administration handling of it needs to be hidden, or
it is wished to cloak the Republican agenda to rob the
public domain, the Ministry will be where?
04/14/03 Everyone no doubt remembers
the Bush campaign promise to never touch the Social Security Lock Box. This now feelected administration is making up for its tax cuts by borrowing 2.7 trillion from this very same
Lock Box. The White House is not only infested with common thieves of the Enron variety, but also apparently with safe crackers as well. The dept increase as contained in latest budget proposal, is 984 billion. This is near a trillion on
top of the already existing 6.4 trillion dollar debt. The 2nd largest expenditure of the US government, 2nd only to Health and Human Services, is the interest on the dept, at 147 billion for the period of 1 Oct '02 till 15 Mar '03. This is the first MBA president in history, graduated from the Harvard Business College. For those considering such an education, one would have to consider whether the $34,000 a year tuition by itself, will be a lesson in misappropriation.
04/12/03 The US military has claimed the Iraqi war plan to be the greatest in world history. As if it was so different from Nazi blitzkrieg, and if the outcome could be in doubt, with the military technology of outer space aliens against rifles and grenade launchers. The plan was to bypass all cites and go straight to Baghdad. However the measure of success will not be how quickly the war was won,
but by the measure of the social catastrophe that may follow. Looting and anarchy are now rampant, and perhaps the burning
of the cities will take place, with no civil government infrastructure in existence whatsoever, and no way to deliver humanitarian aid. Arguably a more humanitarian option, and the only way to have prevented this destruction would have been to take one city at at a time, the imposition of Marshal Law, the prevention of anarchy, the institution of civil authority, aid relief pipelines and distribution centers. Analysis by hindsight will better be able to determine the validity of
the invasion plan, but it probably can be safely said that
the humanitarian situation after the fall of the government
was not a top priority.
04/11/03 One problem with the US economy is that between telephones, cable television and internet service, as much as 150 and more dollars a month in disposable income, is given to a few giant corporations by the majority of US households. This is money that could have been spread throughout the small business sector of the local economy and which would of course boost the overall economy in general. If one thinks the Republicans as the business party, knows what's good for even themselves, as they keep their businesses solvent with principles, maybe one should consider again. The principles of anti-socialism or total opposition to a non-profit communication and media infrastructure, that might cut costs by at least half, freeing up this money for themselves, and helping the economy as a whole, is well
beyond the comprehensive capacity of this crowd.
04/10/03 How gullible are the
American people? Between 70 and 80 percent of the US population according to polling, think President Gorgeous George inspires
confidence, is honest and caring. This is why they are all going to, if not kiss his hand, cross his palm with a thousand dollars apiece for the business of Iraq - probably just to begin. And this is on top of the one to five thousand they have already given to the wealthy, in the form of increased state and local taxes to make up for the monster federal tax breaks for the rich. Sucker a minute was understatement. Explains the reason there are so many con artists in America.
04/09/03 The rich don't give a damn
but for anyone but themselves. The US abandons Afghanistan
again. There is little or no money for them in the US budget. Mountains of money will go instead to Iraq. Permanent US military bases will remain in Afghanistan, primarily to
protect the new gas and oil pipelines being built, and to
keep the government in power and functioning, as well
as to protect the major cities. Al Qaeda will again move
into the backcountry. And Afghanistan returns to its number
one export - drug wars.
04/08/03 If pro basketball and to a lesser extent college basketball has been ruined by the shot clock, the reason that this change was introduced was certainly not for the integrity of the game, but for a greater popularity with an uneducated fan base and the service of television. It certainly must seem to some, that last night's NCAA championship game between Kansas and Syracuse, was affected
by apparently what was the periodic two and a half minute television time outs that occurred without explanation. The tempo of the game was seemingly greatly changed after each of these artificial interruptions, and whereas in the early game the shooters were hot, by end of the game neither team seemed able to make a basket from stepladder under the hoop. Of course this observation is speculation, but nevertheless whenever an internal dynamic is changed for an external end, the quality
of the product becomes sullied.
04/08/03 It has been said that George Bush the younger is a man of God. That all the demonstrations in the world and all the remonstrance from world leaders would not dissuade him from his God granted mission of war. There is nothing so undemocratic as a man on a mission of God. One might guess that there is not much democracy in heaven.
04/06/03 People are boycotting the Dixie Chicks 'cause at least one member of this band does not like being from the same state as Georgie Porgie. If that's
the way they feel they 'should' boycott them. And if there
is anyone that doesn't like the this illegal war, principles and goals of the Republican Party or the backers of the current
administration, they can start by boycotting the
Fortune 500 Corporations wherever possible.
04/04/03 One problem with the concept of the new imperial US government is that this administration will have to be sustained for longer than one term. How are
they going to preserve the American way against the threats
of terrorists, North Korea, Syria, Iran, the EU, China, the
UN and win World War IV, if the virtual outcome of capitalist corporate democracy is subject to the whim of elections? Will
they allow this? The best way to fix elections is with the new electronic voting machines, with no paper backup and no recount. Elections are now fixed. This can be said because
there is no way to prove they are not, except if the companies
that build the voting machines release the codes - and they will not. If the vote seems dead in America, one can remember that the last time Republicans totally dominated the government there came the depression, the reaction of which brought democrats to control government for the next 80 years, which may mean that the historical memory is longer than thought.
04/03/03 There is nothing very complicated about Sharon and the Lakud. It is nothing
but a land grab tougher war party. Sharon incited the second Palestinian uprising with his visit to the Dome of the Rock,
and then used that uprising to get elected twice. And all for one reason: which is to steal the West Bank and Gaza, hector
by hector, by forever prolonging and provoking the war and delaying any peace. Day by day, year in and year out they colonize the occupied territories with settlers and steal Palestinian land and bulldoze Palestinian houses. All with
the tacit approval of the US with its own history of theft
by settlers. Why is it we hear almost without end, the tragedy of Tiananmen Square, and never a word about especially, the continuous Israel shootings of Palestinian children.
04/01/03 If there should be elected another member of the secret society 'Skull and Bones' to the US presidency, which is a distinct possibility if the next election is not stolen, he should invade Texas and clean out that culture of corporate thieves.
03/31/03 Now the administration is blaming Iran for their inability to win the war in Iraq.
The US and Britain overthrew a democratic government of Iran
in 1953, and replaced it with the Shaw. They supplied the Shaw and the dreaded secret police 'the Savak', with every implement of torture and mayhem for 30 years, used to murder tortured and oppress the Iranian people until that government was finally toppled and replaced by Khomeini. From hence time forward, as a way of evading, escaping and diverting attention from their own crimes, every time the subject of Iran comes up, the US shouts 'Evil terrorists' to the rooftops. The US government must constantly demonize Iran out of existence as a way to deny
all responsibility for their own evil and dastardly doing
and thus they never have to face the responsibility of their own horrendous crimes. Same with Viet Nam. Same with Iraq. Instead of hating themselves they hate their victims.
03/29/03 For a comprehensive clinic in the nature of propaganda and its influence on those that would either believe it or don't know any better, one only has to watch how the Republican Party flag station, the Fox Network construes feed. It turns out that many of the few
pro-troops/pro-war demonstrations around the country, are organized by radio mock disk jockeys, working for the Bush Family Radio Network, otherwise known as Clear Channel Communications, with some 1200 stations headquartered in - you guessed it - Texas. Vice Chairman Tom Hicks, a former owner of the 'Texas Rangers bush ball team', made a partner and a million for the now ranch hand president. Now and then there are holocausts of mass murder and mayhem such as Yugoslavia
and Rwanda. If one were to wonder how the incendiary hatred
is motivated to incite these barbaric slaughters, one
has only to look to Right Wing and government radio talk
show goons. Beware of the concentration of media control.
03/28/03 The Bush administration has sabotaged all the progress of the two Koreas over lo these many years. Pakistan and India are a time bomb. War in Iraq and the untold ramifications of that are the creation of the Bush
Regime. Peace talks were suspended in Columbia. An attempt
was made to bring down the government in Venezuela. Terrorists everywhere. The continuing Israli/Palistinian catastrophe;
the UN in tatters. The now riff between the US/ Britain and Europe will have as yet unknown consequences. And then there is the unforcast economic consequences. The general assumption is that all this derives directly or indirectly from 9/11, and would have resulted regardless. Actually it would have been completely different, if the reb Jeb hadn't stole the election. However a case could be made that 9/11 wouldn't have happened at all if Bush-boy hadn't been elected. If everything that is now happening is everything that Bin Laden could hope for and more, and wouldn't have happened under Al Gore, then there may not have been any reason for it. If 9/11 was instigated or aided actively or passively by agents of the secret US government, then also with Al Gore, 9/11 would have
had no actual purpose.
03/26/03
Can you say coalition? Coal-i-tion, Co-a-li-tion. Coalition forces. Anybody ever seen coalition forces other than Tony Blair explaining the 'Coalition position' for the unexplainable Boy Bush on c-span. For those who use the term coalition forces, the mathematical mentality is 1 and 1 adds to 37. Speaking of the corporate media, the basic elements of war coverage are the same as they ever were. We bomb them into the stone age - good. They shoot back - bad. Everything about us is good. Everything about them is bad. The one continuous double standard. The thing is not that the media is corporate, but that it is Capitalist. Profits come with selling propaganda. Check the book or video rental stores. How often is
the public buying truth compared to fiction?
03/25/03 The official administration projection for the federal deficit for the current fiscal year is something in the neighborhood of 300 billion. Of course it should be expected that the administration would project a figure as a glass half full rather than half empty. With the war in Iraq, the aftermath, the cost of bringing everything
back, and the beginning preparations for the next war, a speculative guess at the current year's deficit might be more in the neighborhood of from 500 billion to a trillion.
Deficits. And then in an unexpected development of the new global economic order, the US government is now confiscating Iraqi funds from banks around the world. This is not theft, but will be said to be used, as will the Iraqi oil, for their own liberation. Countries are now
required to fund their own invasions and colonization by others.
03/24/03 Tony Blair seems to have aged in the last few months. President Jimmy Carter aged a great deal in his term as president. One president that didn't seem to age a day was Reagan, and probably not for the reason that being a movie actor, he was not apparently emasculated by the constant accompaniment an army of make-up artists. Did Clinton's hair turn white? Or maybe he was just harried.
You - on hearing the president announce on national television, the intention to begin the war on Iraq, may have had trouble getting to sleep, so disturbed might you have been of the implications. However the president - Boy George - it is
reported, was in bed and fast asleep in less than an hour
after the above-mentioned address. Apparently this guy is almost oblivious to even being alive, yet alone responsible
for the lives, health, happiness and misery of millions of people around the world. And of course this seems quite obvious, just by his and his party's legislative agenda.
One may notice that Right Wingers seem not to age while in office, while those more of a Socialist persuasion seem more inclined as such.
03/22/03
Interesting analogy made on telephone call-in show on cable Newsworld International, as to the mindset of the purveyors of this war on Iraq. 'It is a hostile corporate takeover which when completed; they will strip it of its assets.' They will
set up an American style and controlled government. They will
construct military bases. Those bases will remain there for
as long at least as Korea or Germany. As long as those bases remain, there will exist a Machiavellian manipulation of the government in American interests. They will take over the control of the oil fields to pay for the cost of the invasion,
and they will never relinquish that control. These US bases in Iraq will be used to intimidate and influence politics in the whole of the middle east and possibly to launch future wars in the area. With control of the world's second largest oil
reserves, the US should be able to influence if not control world politics for some time to come. Meanwhile in the economic war on America, the US fedeal deficit for the month of February
'03 alone - is 96.3 billion.
03/21/03
One has to have sympathy for the Iraqi civilians, if one has
a soul, imagine the children, bunkered down where ever they
can hunker, especially under the promised use of weapons, of
a force and scale never seen before. On the other hand it may be somewhat akin, to the way the whole of the Palestinians population in the Israeli occupied territories spend half
their lives, less the missiles and high altitude bombing.
And at least they don't have to listen to the incessant
idiot media chatter that we in America do, if we want to
stay current. Or maybe they do. They say today is 'A' day.
So Baghdad citizens, you can take heart in the pride deserved,
in playing the part of guinea pigs, in the testing of all
the latest new and improved weaponry, that will no doubt if successful, be used in future wars, to bring capitalist democracy to a better world. And we get to watch the play
by play, from the comfort of out living rooms, like it was
a sporting event.
03/20/03
The American war on Iraq has been declared illegal and breaks international law, because to be legal it must at least have agreement of the UN Security Council. If the war were only for the purpose to liberate the Iraqi people without a great deal of civilian casualties, there might be less opposition to it. But those opposed, believe that the war is being prosecuted by a cabal of liars and thieves, going to Baghdad to confiscate the oil and control world petroleum and money markets. Liars and thieves do not believe in or obey law that opposes their objectives, which is why they are criminals.
03/19/03 Notice one of only two
seemingly real concerns expressed by Boy George was - do not destroy the oil wells. If Saddam is going down anyway, it might seem in his best interest not to let the Americans steal the oil scott free. If he torches - should take global warming up another notch. The only Iraqi strategy that would make any sense for them, would be to go into bunkers under the cities and just stay there and wait for the US troops to enter the gates. The US says it is not going to enter the cities and fight door to door. This then could turn into a long drawn out siege and continued bombing of the cities, with the civilian casualties ever mounting. The longer it lasts the advantage to Saddam - until they eventually take him out. Or maybe they will
all just surrender in shock and awe.
03/18/03 As a general rule, the more
Right Wing the media enterprise and outlet, the greater is the amount and number
of commercials. The more
Socialist is the media outlet, especially like college stations, the less or absence of the amount of commercial minutes. This is because for all the altruistic posturing of
the Right Wing, they have one and only one primary interest - which is money. Capitalist radio is used for individual
private ends. Socialist radio is for the community. Thus one
can naturally expect a morality of money to be expressed
from capitalist media.
03/17/03
For historical precedents, this must be the first time in history that a country was required to disarm, and even participated in its own disarmament before it was invaded.
'UN - throw up your hands and vote yes or we're goin' in blazin', not that we care or ever cared, but because we're
ready now.'
03/16/03
See headline 'Europeans stop work to protest the war'. That may be one difference between Americans and peoples of other countries. Most Americans would no more stop work for political, moral or religious protest than
they would work for nothin', unless it is an official union strike, that you don't see that much of that much
of anymore either. And work stoppages is the only way the
U.S. will ever be dragged into the twentieth (20th) century, in terms of social welfare, like almost all other countries in the world.
03/14/03
Once the shooting starts in Iraq - in America, land of the free press - absolutely no dissent against the war will be allowed in the capitalist media. Maybe ten minutes or so. This was the case in the last gulf war. Some dissenting editors refused to sell their souls, approximately 2 or 3 nationwide, and were promptly fired and black listed for life. After the war a few columnists that actually possess a conscience, apologized by virtue of the appropriate considerations of mortgages that had to be paid and mouths that had to be fed. No reason to think it will be any different this time round. Oh - that's right - the
whole of the Republican Party dissented against Clinton's war in the Balkans. But this is different, this is a Republican war.
03/13/03
One way to keep morons out of the White House might be for the congress to enact legislation authorizing a weekly question and answer time, such as they do in the British parliament, where politicians are actually educated, and have democratic debate that is exciting, intelligent and exhilarating, enabling the public to genuinely take pride in their government. This is opposed to the world's great exemplification of democracy, the American congress in a morgue, where the dead come out of their crypts to make droll speeches to an empty cavernous, lifeless, deadening, mind numbing chamber, and a television camera. The viewing public must become so disenchanted with the democratic process that they become narcoleptic, causing massive sleeping
sickness. This may be because the lethal narcotic of politics is the drip feeder of money rather than the infusion of intelligence.
03/12/03
It's too delicious — members of the Republican Party, who so sanctimoniously voted to impeach Clinton for high crimes and misdemeanors — oops hanky panky — are now professing that it
is perfectly alright for the US government, its president and various ministers, to lie to the world, to the United Nations and to the arms inspectors in Iraq. It doesn't matter they say. The UN and by extension the world is all-irrelevant, and of course we are entitled to lie to irrelevance. Revenge is
sweet. And what is even better, is that these Republicans
show themselves to be so dumb, they honestly do not see anything wrong with what some would call the sin of lying. For all the moral pronouncements found in religious texts such as the bible, unfortunately too little attention is paid to the sin
of stupidity.
03/11/03
Talk about mixed message, don't you just love where the US
rubberneck media brings you: 'this just in', videotape of some fight, beating, shooting or other violent circumstance, where they deplore this behavior or event to excess, while they show it over and over and over again, sometimes ad nauseam.
Now children don't try this at home. Oh - you didn't get exactly how not to try that. Let me show you again.
03/09/03
"Tonight's story on The Twilight Zone is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of introduction. This, as you may recognize, is a map of the United States, and there's a little town there called Peaksville. On a given morning not too long ago, the rest of the world disappeared and Peaksville was left all alone. Its inhabitants were never sure whether the world was destroyed and only peaksville left untouched or whether the village had somehow been taken away. They were, on the other hand, sure of one thing: the cause. A monster had arrived in the village. Just by using his mind, he took away the automobiles, the electricity, the machines, because they displeased him, and he moved an entire community back into the dark ages. Just by using his mind." 'The people in Peaksville have to smile all the time, think happy thoughts, and say happy things, because that's what Anthony commands and, if they disobey, he can wish them into a cornfield or change them into grotesque versions of themselves.' From "It's A Good Life," by Jerome Bixby, made famous by an episode of Twilight Zone, where a 6 year old boy wishes anybody he doesn't like into 'the corn field'. Anthony wished away the infrastructure of Peaksville,
Ohio including its economic base, because he was two young to make the connection. Bush has got the whole world jumping through hoops for only one reason - disappearance by military might. Good .........

A bulletin just released from Republican consultant
Frank Luntz, of the American National Republican Party Committee, recommends that party politicians change the common vernacular of the term 'global warming' to 'climate change'. Anybody who has witnessed the overnight change within 24 hours, of terms such as 'malpractice' to 'medical mistakes' or 'government overthrow' to ' regime change' might assume that if they should no longer hear the term 'global warming' in the national media, that this might be taken as fairly convincing evidence that this media is, when push comes to shove, merely a propaganda organ for the Republican Party.
03/07/03
You can almost predict when the Palestinians will launch a suicide attack. When the Israelis, day in and day out, attack Palestinian targets along with civilian collateral damage,
with little notice by the mainstream media, it has to be assumed that the Palestinians will have to retaliate sooner
or later, which of course is the top of the news. Then in retaliation the Israelis up the body count and the mass media leaves the impression it is justified by the suicide attack. The art of war and lying.
03/06/03
They're going to have a war; they got to have a war. You can bet some of the reasons for this is that they want to test all the new weapons they have developed since the last gulf war and the Balkans. They plan to use twice as many bombs as the last gulf war, all of which will have to be replaced by the arms makers, thanks to the generosity of the US tax payer. The more damage they do to the Iraqi infrastructure the more that will have to be rebuilt, by US companies such as Halliburton, again with the generosity of the taxpayer. Think they paid Cheney 30 mil and that he is Vice Pres for nothing. Speaks to the famous generousity of the American People.
