It is proposed
that levels of Consciousness may be ascribed, as essentially different degrees of awareness, that the individual derives by the degree of which they are assigned and assign themselves and their environment - consequence.

Different levels of awareness can be said to derive from what the individual is conscious of, perceives, recognizes, and is cognizant in any given present circumstance, based upon what the individual considers as significant, important or of Consequential Value, to include the degree to which the individual considers themselves and others to be of consequence.

The First State of the Consciousness of Consequence is the physical, material called the Mundane, because the individual sense of self-worth and consequence in general is limited to material and physical attributes.

The consequence is defined as concrete which means that due to the context of the body and its sensory system with pleasure/pain mechanisms, decisions are consequential to the health and safety of the individual and those they love, as what is concrete physical.

The Second State of the Consciousness of Consequence is called Symbolic Self or Symbolic Consciousness, where the mind separates from the singular and individual body in its identification, and where it is realized that all human individuals are to a fair degree alike, and what is different is a matter of circumstance, to which the mind must correspond its values, opinions, education and decisions.

The individual's evaluation of worth and consequence is exponentially expanded, to include as much as the degree of worth of all living things. However because this is a state of mind and non-physical, it is abstract, possessing no real consequence as does First State Consciousness.

The Third State of the Consciousness of Consequence is Spirituality. Where the second state of consciousness is an abstract state of mind, and where the individual is limited to the capacities of a single mind and body, with or without any real physical capacities of power, such as armies or kingdoms, in order for the manifestly expanded Will of the Second State to assume manifestly expanded range of consequential imperatives, it would need the employ of spiritual means or magic. In this case the individual could conceivable manifest consequence, which would correspond to the expanded Second State of Consciousness.

Since the premise of the Consciousness of Consequence is that true Consciousness cannot be understood completely and in depth without the affect of Consequence, the spiritual employment of Consequence in the form of magic is considered as concrete, since it is manifested as real affect in the world which produces real and actual consequences, or at least it must be assumed and believed to be actual and real, in order for one to understand true ramifications.

The Fourth State of the Consciousness of Consequence is when the individual transcends the material plane and accepts the idea of life after death, extending the consciousness to a greater period of duration and to new dimensions of existence, as the non-physical spiritual world, wherein this realization is taken seriously. Thus the Consciousness transcends the physical world and its limitations of singularity and transitoriness, thus the individual's Consequence is expanded to a higher and longer lasting dimension of existence. With the continuation of existence after life, comes the continuation of the implications of one's past actions or moral and ethical behavior and Karma, and thus Consequence is extended into another dimension.

The implications of Consequence in the Fourth State is more or less abstract because it is an idea, concept, belief or conviction without empirical proof, which becomes more concrete in the Fifth State.

The Fifth State of the Consciousness of Consequence is the conviction, as a fair degree of certainty based on empirical circumstance and experience, of an individual spirit existing on a non-material plane. This conviction may be derived from experiences like Astral Projection, Enlightenment, the near death tunnel or sometimes drugs. This conviction may also parallel the Third State, as the affect of spirit in the material world on behalf of the individual. However unlike the Third State, in this case the individual may have to at least postulate the idea, that the use of spiritual power and magic, as a means of understanding Consequence and promoting change, may rest solely in the province of individual responsibility and not merely the suggestion, approval or sanction of other forces. Thus the Consequence of assuming sole responsibility is increased accordingly, along with the possibility of Karma and consequential requital. The concept of total responsibility may be further enforced by the possible insight and spiritual awareness, as in the case of Enlightenment, that the individual identity becomes less and less singular, and more and more unified with the whole or a oneness with all.

Since the conviction of a spiritual self is based on empirical sensory evidence, as various kinds of experience, circumstances and action, such as spiritual manifestation or magic, the conviction of same is said to enforce some degree of concrete Consequence.

The Sixth State of the Consciousness of Consequence would be the Soul. If Will has three states, as history or memory as a basis for decision making, future intention and objectives as the object of Will, and present decision making or the deciding, the decider chooses by the comparison of past and future. The Soul may represent history and memory of its incarnations in singularity, over any number of lives, as a composite of experience that comprises its character. If physical living incarnation is essentially the experience of Consequence, then the Soul would represent a stored composite of that immersion in Consequence and the decisions derived therein.

This state of Consequence as Soul would be abstract since it would be considered a composite of experience and not necessarily an active participant in present circumstance of the physical world. And in fact, for the material physical identity to have complete free Will, it would be necessary that the Soul be hidden from it, for knowing what the Soul would know would tend to bias one's decisions in the present in which Will would be pre-determined.

The Seventh State of the Consciousness of Consequence may be a state of complete contentment, peace, harmony, love, unification, or beauteousness, as described by those of the experiences of Enlightenment or near death. It may also be a place where the individual Soul and Will chooses its future, as either to submerge and meld itself into non-individuality, as a complete manifestation of this tranquillity, or to choose one's next incarnation, as some form of individual, being akin to the two main branches of Buddhism, as the Mahayana reincarnation for the good of the all, or the Theravada where one transcends duty as well as desire and melds.

The Seventh State is concrete since it has real consequence, that determines future as reincarnation or perhaps eternal tranquillity.
