There were no trees in the scraggy scape of my site, so it was hot in the afternoon. But in the morning and evenings it was fairly pleasant. To the right and east a mountain ascended almost straight up at least a thousand feet to the ridge top, north and south and was of a mostly red/orange color with a few pines perched here and there. To the left and west another ridge line, but at some greater distance, a little more mixed with clay, rocks and vegetation. These ridges were both reddish, orange in color and it was joy to sit and watch the changing colors as the sun ascended and descended in morning and evening. So the lake was contained in this large rock mountain hollow. At the other end were granite cliff-faces fifty feet high, with a V shaped cut, right to the water's edge, that set the lowest level of the water; and right in the center so that you could see through into the distance, sky and a far reaching hazy far away valley.
But the amazing thing was the placid perfectly mirror finish of the lake when
calm. There would be a perfect reflection of the shoreline all the way around,
upside down in just as great of detail as the airborne top. I can remember looking and watching where the two - upside and downside, with a line as the water's edge. A tree was two trees, one facing up and the other facing down, joined at the water line.
