After the jumper gang left I thought about going over to that bluff and look over the side, just to get an idea of whether I could do it or not. However I was just too lazy. But I vowed that I would get some sandals, to come jump off that cliff, just to see if I could one day. If they did it so could I. But I never did - so still don't know. The trick, as with many things, is to just do it and don't think about it. Nothing adverse happened to them and so neither me.
The first days were windy and as said, I was not able to discern the true scope of
this lake. Up behind my site and just below the spine of the ridge to the east, I found an oval shaped structure, a rock wall about a foot high. At first it looked like a bath of some sort. But I decided it might be a holy spot, and so to check out its influence, I thought I might sleep there. It was flat ground inside and big enough to stretch out. Laying there that night I was thinking spiritual thoughts. Maybe around ten o'clock before I had gotten to sleep, two figures came creeping by in stealth silence, and scared the hell out of me. I recognized them as the two guys with the sandals, creepers a qualifier they had forgotten to mention. They did not see me but I was spooked. I decided that the Gods did not want me to sleep there, and so I agreed to pull out. It was a deal of sorts, and I picked up my sleeping bag and mat and retreated back over to my tent. And whalla - the next days were wind free, and I discovered the magic of the place.
