Of course one can always buy cheaper and make a little more money. It is not rocket science. You can also just say I am cheap and stingy. And when a substandard wheel was to be delivered, he was somehow not available leaving me the embarrassment. The topper was he contracted a wheel which we built. But for delivery he was out of town. I found someone to help, and when we got to the address, we found that it was to be assembled on the back deck of an apartment, three floors up a back flight of stairs, something he failed to mention.
Marko and SusieQ decided to buy an old pick-up truck, maybe a fifty-five Chevy - something like that. We may have all pitched in but don't remember. It was a good idea. It was a community truck. Any of our group who wanted to use it could, with coordination, for grocery shopping, the movies and whatnot, and we used to get materials like clay for the shop, and materials for the wheel building business. There was no insurance of course. But the truck did not last long. The problem was that the rings and valves were shot and it smoked. It was not bad in the city and hardly noticeable, but on the freeway it was a smoke screen. So Marko decided to go down to South San Francisco to get wood cheaper. I used Beronio Lumber near Army and Bayshore. I told him very specifically and in no uncertain terms not to go on the freeway, where he could get busted. So what did he do but go on the freeway and got busted by the highway patrol.
