A theory of psychology
consists in the Ego and Identities. Everybody thinks. These thinking and decision making processes, learned from childhood are first developed, implemented and augmented by what is termed the Ego, considered as the first personality, pre-puberty.
The Ego is the operator and thinker, and acts for one single unified entity defined as the body. The primary concern of the Ego is the body and all its needs, its safety, health and well being.
The Identities are created by the mind for the purpose of accomplishing objectives, as needs, necessities and desires. I want to be a juggler and with a little practice. Thus one must adopt specific thought and movement patterns that accomplish objectives. Specific behavior patterns and manners of thinking can become personalities which override the Ego. The Identity of the man overrides the boy. The hard bitten criminal resembles in no way the sweet child once was Ego. She was captured by her own vanity beautiful.
A third classification is called the Ipseities, which are Identities as non-physical spiritual or religious representations. Ipseities are emulations of discarnate beings representing the accomplishment of spiritual and religious objectives, such as role models of perfectibility, hopefully answered prayers, help in obtaining heaven or better hunting grounds.
The Ego alone may operate the body or one or more Identities alone may, or some combination. The Ego alone drives the car but may have back seat drivers as the Identities. Or an Identity alone may drive the car as a race car driver. In this case there may be conflict between the Ego which is concerned with the safety of the body, and a racing Identity which loves speed and daring. Any Identity which endangers the body may conflict with the Ego, such as soldier, daredevil, police or
fire-am.
The Ego is the operator of one body and as such is one personality. Objectives are unlimited, and thus one can have as many Identities as one can keep track of. The average person my have six Identities such as spouse, cook, driver, profession, father or mother and hobbies, all vehicles of the mind and each Identity the individual's operative system, and way of creating and producing ends such as a spaghetti chef.
The Ego is Conservative. The Identities can be Conservative but generally are Progressive, in that the process of producing objectives is advancement.
The body is a more or less fixed entity, as tall as it will ever get, limited in duration, never going to be rich or famous, primarily interested in preserving itself in well being.
The Ego doesn't need two or three houses, or cars or car loads of money. The Ego needs good health, shelter, love,
the basic needs satisfied. Thus it could be premised that Ego is inherently good, and it is the Identities which commit all sorts of crimes and can be villainous, and wherein the Ego is subsumed.
However the Ego may be subject to base passions, such as jealousy, envy, fear, suspicion, anger, uncertainty and loneliness. And in such cases, an Identity the objective of which is transcendent of such negative emotions, is a possible alternative, or even an Ipseity.
It might further be speculated that women are more Ego oriented and Conservative, while men are more Identity oriented and Progressive, creating societal objectives of war and peace. Thus would there, an inherent conflict between men and women.
Some Identities as creations of the mind, may be cold and efficient as befits the conformance to objectives of villainy. Personality disorders may result from the adoption of disordered Identities. Thus a serial killer can be a loving husband as the Ego, and at the same time possess a killer's Identity outside the family. Most of the evil in the world might be said to be the result of Progressive Identities.
The Progressive system of evaluation would be accordant to Progressive Identities. What the Ego would accept as
satisfactory, the affluent Identity might assign a low number say One, while the objective of wealth would be assigned a Ten. To establish one's consequence one subtracts oneself from Ten and ads from One, as some degree in the middle. Ten is the conception of the individual's concept of affluence as 100,000 or 100,000,000. 10,000 would be One. Thirty thousand would be about a three.
The Ego as the conservator of the body would utilize the Conservative System of Evaluation, with fixed values, as specific temperature, heart rate, the necessity of food, drink and sleep ideally seven hours a night although different individual systems vary, all fixed inherent to genetic strict structure. The body as Ego may not agree with party-time Identity, with night-owl notorious, good time Pam and midnight Sam.
In Indigenous Necessity and Subsistence societies, there are not a lot of Identities as objectives are limited. To the extent that everyone's body essentially functions the same, all Egos should be fairly equivalent and equal. Identities would conform to the objectives as the needs and necessities of both the individual and place in social culture.
In capitalist Excess and Profit cultures there are thousands of Identities from gas station mechanics to high tech computer engineers. In terms of pay scale and status Identities are unequal as they can be.
In a theoretical socialist society, it would be recognized that by the Ego everyone is equal and by the Identities everyone is different, and not necessary equal in objectives. And recognizing the distinction, a social equity is maintained.
Ego as equivalent to All and Identities necessary to the whole neither inferior or superior.
