The concept of
Antagonistic Opposition means the use of the dynamic of opposites that are antagonistic to each other, such as good and evil, freedom and communism, religion and godlessness, wherein specific individuals, groups and entities are identified with the negative attributes of the bipolar spectrum.
This in essence produces what is almost always unconscious justification, in which these negatively identified and defined entities or individuals, may be exploited for purposes of promoting what is deemed the good.
This means that if the individual is to engage in what is termed Progressive Materialism, as the accumulation of assets, property and advantages greater than what others have, one must assume an attitude of at least indifference or possibly hostility, towards any ideals of human material, economic, social and political equality, or for that matter any equity between the individual and any or all aspects of the rest of existence.
This attitude is logically accomplished through the concept of polarized opposites, as particularly the polarities of consequence and non-consequence, or what is said to be superior and inferior. In terms of human affairs superiority is said to deserve special considerations, and what is considered as inferior and of little value and consequence, can be used as material, exploited, destroyed, changed, improved or converted, usually for purposes that are purported to promote what is good or superior.
The opposites of good and bad are termed Metaphysical Ideals and Antithetical Opposites. Metaphysical Ideals are perfected models that act as authority for what is of consequence, by correspondence and comparison. Antithetical Opposites are the opposite of perfected ideals and act as authorities for what is considered of little or no value.
Metaphysical Ideals represent everything that is held in high regard and consequence, such as progressed development, refinement, money, wealth, fame, education, power, elite social organizations or religious values. Antithetical Opposites are such things as what is natural, undeveloped, unrefined, poor, ignorant, common or weak.
Progressive Materialism devolved from the adoption of Excess and Profit is a bipolar concept. The term progress by its very definition means that a new and changed state or condition is superior, improved and better than the state it replaces.
One could say that the concept of Antagonistic Opposition includes the concept of enemies, or that to accumulate and possess more than others, one may need to take or steal it, and it is justified if they be one's enemies.
The fact is, that the world and universe are comprised, in terms of the senses, as opposite qualities and conditions. These are such things as hot and cold, long and short, up and down, pleasure and pain, wet and dry or black and white. However the concept of opposition is relative to interpretation.
The interpretation of opposites is defined by the concepts of Antithetical and Complimentary Opposition. Antithetical of course is all that is adverse to the human sensory apparatus. But on the other hand natural opposition may be interpreted as complimentary.
Thus while extreme weather conditions may be antithetical to human well-being in the short term, in the long run this weather may be complimentary to the sustainment of all aspects of the environment overall.
Space as the opposite of matter is complimentary to the movement of any entity. The cold of space may be said to be complimentary to the heat of the sun, when a mean temperature exists such as that produced by the orbit of earth around the sun.
Complimentary Opposition means that change as transformation or destruction is complimentary to the pre-existent state changed. All natural change can be said to be complimentary. Change which is not complimentary to pre-existent states is antithetical.
Antagonistic Opposition is a concept which is inherent in the consciousness and perspective of Progressive Materialism, that is necessary for the creation and use of materials, for the production of Excess and Profit, and ever increasing living standards.
Inherent in this proposition is that some will have more than others and that some will have to take from others what is needed to promote elitist material ideals.
Also necessary is the labor to produce materially advanced states, in which some will have to do more work and enjoy the proceeds less, while others will have more and do less.
And of course inherent to the proposition of Excess and Profit is Antithetical Opposition, which is convenient to the justification of the rational of inequality, as self One before others All.
