So they put Andrew on the phone and it was Whom congratulating him for a selected assignment to HQs Army Washington DC, and he Whom was personally welcoming him to the unit. Course it was Whom who arranged it. After that Andrew told me that for the first week in the unit, he did all of whom's typing after hours. Boone didn't do any work all day, but rather was on the phone doing deals. So in the early evening hours he conscripted any low rank new to the unit or passing through, to do his typing which he dictated. At any rate Andrew told me that he typed up Whom's Psychiatric report on Whom's instructions.

The morning Whom's psychiatric report was to be released, the Major left his door open and so I overheard some of the discussion. There was concern that Whom would substitute his own report. The Major was on the phone with the Psychiatrist's office, and he had sent a guard to pick it up and ferry over the report. The report was monitored all the way to the Major's office and it exonerated him. How it would be possible for the Major too not-know that a substitution if any had occurred took place is anybody's guess, but Andrew was convinced that Whom had made the substitution. In any event the game was up. Everybody was on to Whom. So he had himself shipped to a headquarters unit in Hawaii . He was quite proud of that, strutting around in his class A's, bragging about his good fortune. He played the fool's-gold game right to the end.
