And there seems to be coffee houses on every block now in San Francisco, and with outdoor tables, benches and tree and flower boxes like in Europe, which is a great addition to the fifties concrete starkness, that was the way it was back in the seventies and eighties. I have heard that the frequenters of these places are called hips, but I couldn't attest to that either.

Then Odie got cancer and died and Pal from old age and then we were evicted from Winfield and I moved to Potrero Hill. A little later Sonoma moved in with me there and Guy came and lived for a time but he was now old enough to be on his own.
I continued to walk with Sophia on the hill for a time. I was waiting for her to come and get me and make me hers. But she never did. And I surmised that she would never leaver her family and she didn't do that either to my knowledge.
