The body is Conservative because its primary function is to preserve itself in like or near-like form. Thus for the healthy body, the object is to
preserve that health in like-form, to avoid accidents and unsafe
circumstance, and to avoid becoming unhealthy or injured. The body
wants to be comfortable and to have its needs satisfied. If the individual
wants to transcend the Conservative state of the body, one actually adopts one or more Identities for this purpose, such as body-builder, athlete, fighter or skinny model. If some were to have cosmetic surgery, that would be an Identity imposed from outside, as for purposes of conforming to some specific model of excellence, for objectives like self-respect, making money or being more desirable.
Every person has needs and wants. Need is the province of the Ego, and want is the province of the Identities. Need is Conservative limited to what in necessary to maintain a same or similar condition. The individual wants warmth, comfort, affection, love and all the basic needs of the body. Thus the Ego as the Interpretive Context of the body, and as a Conservative entity, means that one interprets one's general reality more to one's needs as opposed to one's wants. The Ego alone might choose the modest home, while the Identity of millionaire might choose the mansion.
Identity:
Identities are associational history categorized in the memory, as specific perspectives in which to interpret reality, evaluate, assess consequence, or makes decisions, such as the detective sees the world differently than the farmer. Any number of Identities can be created by the Thinking-I and different Identities may be used, for instance to do different jobs, like he took off his carpenter's hat and put on his volunteer fire-man's hat, when called-out on an emergency.
