Knowledge or money
I would bet nine out of ten would take the money and run. Everybody needs money.
Knowledge not so much. And I found that out relative to social utopian programs and agendas. The best and necessary recruiter and retainer for such enterprises would be money.
Good altruistic utopian people do not need nor are they particularly interested in a lot of money but enough to live on is necessary. Altruism only goes so far.
I'd say it's money or knowledge but not both. With money one will more than likely always take the easy way out while knowledge is gained from the struggle.
I must admit to a bit of prejudice since I decided at the age of twenty-two for knowledge and to forego money. So it was a fundamental tenant with me. But I must admit also that I always wanted money. I just didn't want the negative affects that money might have upon me. I didn't want to become a money automaton. I did have offers but turned them down every time.
Money makes everything easy. Hire someone. Let them do it. However without money one has to do it themselves and thus learns how to do things as well as the satisfaction of figuring how and the accomplishment of it. As well as one now has the knowledge of how and how-not to do things. Plumbing, carpentry, auto repair. Thus it could be said knowledge is derived from little money.
One makes money by some limited technique, a skill, a job, a method which is always the same day in and day out and after the initial period of learning the profession, there will not be much learning after that. Paint by the numbers.
It was therefore that I felt that cashing-in as the saying goes ends the creative process. One then must produce what produces the cash in assembly line like fashion. Emphasis becomes selling rather than creating and social functions in connection with sales.
Good altruistic utopian projects and enterprises generally require buildings to house them, which are rented usually. But for the survival of utopian altruistic agencies it is best to own the buildings otherwise these agencies are at the whim of the landlord and politics.
Security is what the good utopian altruistic people want and what they should have, so I discovered to be a successful utopianist it must involve a degree successful economics.
