Considerations

Interpretation
means the Volitional Selection of specific Association from the myriad of memories, which gives any present sensation or thought, recognition, identification, definition, context, history or ramifications, and that identifies, defines, gives context and derives implications, to specifics of present reality or thinking, as compared to all the Associations one could select.

Association is images, impressions, feelings, thoughts, conceptions stored in the memory, that are automatically or selectively attached to present experience or thinking, as identification, classification, implication and Context.

Association is called an automatic function of the memory, which continuously associates one image, impression or thought to any number of others. This is an automatic process, which is necessary for instantaneous response to potentially life-threatening situations.

Most sensory stimulation does not activate automatic Association, as the sensory system would be overloaded in a constant stimulative mode of feeling and reaction all the time. The wilful Interpretation of reality is defined as Volitional Selection.

The selection of specific Associations are determined by what are called Determinative Standards, which is collections of criterion in the memory, like what one believes is right and wrong, true and false, what is possible, what is correct, worthwhile or meaningful, and what is of consequence that governs selection.

The actual selection is made by three entities, as the Ego, Identities and Ipseities called Interpretive Personifications. In pure form the Ego would select for the body and the Identities and Ipseities select for objectives. However Identities, or an Identity often subsumes the Ego and thus would do most of the associative selecting. But you will catch your death of cold ! What the selector considers of Consequence is said to be the primary factor concerning the administration of Interpretation. The Interpretive Context of the Ego is the body, and for the Identities, it tends to be what concerns objectives. Her concern was primarily her health while his was to accommodate his identity as a motorcycle racer on the weekends.

Much of what are Determinative Standards are concluded at an early age, the reasons forgotten and thus the standards become automatic and unconscious. And so the associative process becomes habituated, which is called conditioning. His father winked when worried, and the son at a young age by imitation picked up the tic, and later in life did not know why.

However associative de-conditioning is possible by associative analysis. Begin with a statement, a subject is : such as Pie is : and freely associate whatever comes to mind, and write it down as it comes : pumpkin, chart, in the sky, mother, grandma, Peter eater, rhubarb, I hate rhubarb. Choose one or more of these associations such as Mother is : pie, love dinner, etc. Love is : why do I hate rhubarb ? Why do I love my mother ? Mother is everything good in my life, except rhubarb pie, associate the day my dog died.

Perhaps melodramatic but like so. Trace the history of associations to the source. No right answers, whatever comes to mind is the trick, and then why ? Why do I believe in God ? God is ? One can spend some time like months or years to rid the self of automatic association. And then of course one has to decide for oneself, what what is.
