Conceptual criterion that is introduced to the individual from social conditioning, education, cultural experience or indoctrination is often Progressive, meaning that it requires or demands of the individual, the advancement and achievement of objectives. These objectives are progressive, meaning that the individual is to adopt conceptual authority, that promotes the thought, word and deed of the individual to progressed advanced states, that may be in conflict with the inner or unconscious body temperament.

If the conscious mind is the vehicle of thought, the unconscious may be the realm of the feelings. If the unconscious represents the true state of affairs of the unique body temperament, and the individual would like to discover what that temperament is and coordinate the conscious identity to it, greater access and operational facility of the unconscious may be required. The most well known means of access to the unconscious is via the activity of dreaming. However dream analysis is dependent upon interpretation which is relative to subjective interpretation. The unconscious will solve problems, seemingly to work them out in symbolic form while one sleeps, sometimes obvious in the morning, and sometimes to be drawn out like through processes of writing or even drawing. The key is to take a problem to bed and return to it the next day.

Another means to access the unconscious may be by free association, which is the process of creating a subject and then allowing the conscious mind to freely associate whatever comes to mind. In terms of the unconscious, one wants to allow the association of feelings as well as thoughts. Feelings as associations may be remembered or may stimulate feeling in the present moment from the unconscious. And there is meditation as the practice of shutting down the thinking of the conscious mind which may allow the unconscious to emerge.
