The Identity is the creation of the mind or Thinking-I, like Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy, of which the individual can aspire to be and describe themselves as. It requires an intellectual learning process, as how to become and be any of various Identities. Identities have various sexual connotations as cowboy or soldier is usually male, where nurse or grade school teacher has traditionally been female. In terms of sexuality the Identity can be dominant, submissive or asexual for both the man and woman. The sexually dominant Identity means the individual's sexual role corresponds to a dominant type Identity such as police or fireman, soldier or male athlete. The sexually submissive Identity means the individual's sexual role corresponds to a submissive type Identity like nurse, beautician, decorator or hair-dresser.

A further complexity is the ability of the Thinking-I to adopt more than one Identity. However no matter the number of Identities, the relevant concept is that any Identity in terms of sex is dominant, submissive or asexual, as three sexual archetypes. Thus if the individual possesses a male Identity, there is the potential of alter-Identities, as female or asexual. The Ego represents the born determinant. The Identity represents the alterable and changeable sexual Identities, which may be either male, female or asexual. Thus there may be what are called alter-Identities of opposite sexes as both male and female. The Identity may dominate the Ego or the Ego may dominate the Identity.

The following will be a brief description of the eight combinations of the Ego and Identity as dominant or submissive, as already indicated in the second paragraph. These stereotypes are generalizations, wherein individuals have a sustained propensity, but may change roles for brief periods or otherwise, at any time, depending on changing feelings, identities and what the situation requires.
