We were camped next to the river and there were hot springs a few miles further up, so we had all-in-all a good time. The Professor's kids were with us - from age say - five to twelve years old. The second born son climbed the sheer nearly straight up and down wooded cliff immediately behind us, and got stuck up there. The Professor being the father had to go up to the rescue. Now I have always been pretty agile and good climber, but that is not something I would have done unless I was a father maybe. After an hour the Professor got him down, and they swam down stream back to the camp. And about the time they got back a huge hunk of rock let go from an out-cropping and crashed-splashed into the stream, where they had just swam through. That was a bit of spooky. We stayed maybe five days. The Professor wound up transporting a couple of the North Beachers back to the city, who hiked down with us. They were squeezed into the rear carrying compartment with all the gear. One was a real good guy and I liked him and he really put out, if something was needed. I remember coming down the mountain trying to design a pack pack, which I did made of wood. Never did get around to it until Sophia and I started back-packing. But the one I designed later was quite different.
But back to the Marble Mountains, Sophia and I stayed three, four, five days camped by the parking lot and did a lot of day hiking. After returning to the city we decided we were going to go back to Marble Mountains.
