They don't call people stupid. Perhaps it is impolite. There is no science of stupidity, but only maybe Saint Stupid's Day in April. If there is intelligence there is wrong intelligence, meaning people thinking what was intelligent didn't know it was wrong. Asbestos seemed like a good idea as did fashion over auto safety or baths were considered harmful. Oh he is very smart and knows it all, except it is all wrong. How can wrong be intelligent ? Certainly there is the science of wrongness as we today know, that certain science considered brilliant in its day was wrong and perhaps now even could be considered stupid. It was once universally believed that the biological body's blood did not circulate.
And of course there is the genius who could tell you off the top of their head what day it was on March 5th of the year 1543, but can't remember how to tie their shoe laces. Intelligence is often confused with the facility of memory. A person with a lax memory may be considered stupid, and a photographic memory might be considered genius. On the other hand a lax memory might be able to reason quite well while the memorizer would be incapable of reasoning at all.
Well-read is associated with intelligence as is creativity and critical thinking.
It would be said here that the primary factor as intelligence would be
Consequence, as what is important and what is not. What is considered of Consequence would determine the activity and behavior of the individual. If money, one would pursue wealth. If creativity one might pursue art. If love one might pursue the simple life.
