I made and painted some wooden game boards and used chess tokens. My game was big-time or so I had to believe or why do it. This involved money. Protect it for the big money that it might be. I read a book on patents. I met a patent attorney although I cannot remember how, perhaps a friend knew one and suggested him. He told me my power circles and corner squares might be patentable. So I painted his apartment probably of a price of seven hundred dollars and he submitted a patent for me. The patent was rejected and he got a painted apartment and I got nothing. In the end I figured he was just a con-artist.

I showed my game to Keith who lived across the street and down the block a bit. He was British, but had been in America a long time. He was a business man. He said he would show my game to some people. He had business stories. Said he started in business when going to college. He rented a house and rented out the rooms until he could buy it. Said he worked for some big cosmetics magnet. Said this magnet and some of his executives, and Keith was there as well, to a late dinner at some posh restaurant in New York city. The magnet was wooing a hotshot sales guy for a prospective job, who told the magnet he did not have a very good reputation in the industry, and he was not sure he wanted to work for this not so nice of a guy. Not a good reputation the magnet said, I am going to call my vice president of perfumery who is in Connecticut right now for the weekend, and have him drive down here immediately and he will tell you what a great guy I am. It was one AM.
