Karma in the East
eternal hell in the West. Two systems of extended existence. No compassion at all in the West. One gets one chance and if one blows it - eternal hell. Talk about forgiveness, well if one belongs to the right church one can ask for and receive special dispensation. Even Hitler may have been forgiven.
Life beyond - heaven/hell. Or reincarnation, a second chance, third, fourth and so on till one gets it right. But quite frankly I am suspicious. One's opportunity for criminal activity depends on where one is born. A farmer will never have the same criminal opportunities as a banker. So then it could be said, criminality pre-exists the individual by birth.
In the West, no thought is given to the origin of birth. Spirit first comes into existence with a life to live-out - its fate heaven or hell. Abortion probably saves many a spirit-being from hell. If all non-Christians go to hell, better all non-Christians be aborted.
In the East birth is karma caused, and therefore predestined. Extended existence - the good get gooder and the bad get badder. After all if birth is due to bad former lifetime karma, then this bad start can only lead to bad ends and vice versa. Good starts lead to good ends.
In terms of extended existence, reincarnation seems the better option. Something to do. An eternity of harp music ? However the concept of karma would imply one has no choice in the matter. Return on divestment.
Past life karma, but what is it ? Amnesiac karma. I can't remember but I'm guilty of something. The degree I am now down is the degree I was then up, where up was karma no-know.
What you give is what you get. They murder millions. What can their karma be, living in the lap of luxury ? No evidence of any genocidal karma this side. A million souls the other ? Karmic first dibs.
Live forever in hell. But I suppose they have gotten themselves to the right church and with a generous donation, God will forgive the 43rd resident, even a million murders or is it two now ? But these guys are rich. Maybe they carry hot house and karma insurance, and no trace of karma so far. And hell well - there is only global warming which they don't believe.
Karma or eternal hell ? Karma is correctable and one can work thru bad by doing good and thru good by doing bad. And it doesn't make much sense, a sentence of karmic debt when one is unaware of what crime one is charged with. Equally eternal hell doesn't make much sense either. No parole, no time off for good behavior, with ever increasing population and overcrowding - to what end ?
Does your client understand the consequences of his crimes ? My lord, he doesn't understand the consequence of a pig in a poke. Off with his dead ! But your honor the prosecution protests ! A million victims demand justice ! So Barrister ? which should it be then, Karma or eternal Hell ?
