This was going to be some kind of office. He messed up a cut, a three inch gash where it shouldn't have been. Glen was so nice about it. So they filled it since a redo would put the job in the loss column. Glen also hired his girl-friend and a girl friend of hers to do the painting. It was the first professional women painters I had ever worked on a job with. When the job was done the owners who were Greek gave us a great Greek olive lunch.
John was an early regular. Did I meet John at the cafe ? His brother and friends made a movie famous in cult circles and art houses nation wide anti-war perhaps, so there was a film editing shop on the ground floor of the building he lived in Noe Valley near Church and 24th Streets. His brother was soon gone to southern Californian having taken a big-time legitimate producer's job. Which is what happens to promising young upstart radical film makers. They are given great jobs and great promises and are never heard from again. John now had his brother's apartment in the same building, which his brother owned I believe, perhaps with partners or maybe some kind of condo deal.
They were from Long Island New York where they had been neighbors of Walter O'Malley way back-when growing up, famous for moving the Brooklyn Dodgers to Las Angeles . I don't believe I ever met his brother. But we did a couple of jobs together. He worked in the movies periodically as a light technician on sets outdoors in the city. A friend of his bought a house in the Mission and we painted the inside.
