The Minimalist does everything to the best of their ability all the time unless
it would be rude and obtrusive. Time is valuable to the Minimalist who does not waste it doing things that are insufficient. The Minimalist makes a contract with
an employer and keeps it, so long as the employer does also, and if the employer does not, all bets are off. If the Minimalist does not like the employer or the product produced they should work someplace else. If the individual has no choice but to work for an unethical person or organizations, then a separate contract exists, in which if the employer takes advantage of a dependent, that wrong should be ajudicated. Gorilla tactics are separate ethical issue. The Minimalist adopts the perspective of the occupational position they hold.
The Minimalist may have advantages that many others do not. The Minimalist
may not possess an identity that equates and is bound up with an occupation, along with its accordant consciousness. This identity is not dependent on the status, responsibilities or lack thereof, or rewards of occupation. Thus the Minimalist can take any job regardless of its status and considers all jobs
not promoting superfluity, to be equally necessary to the function of the whole. Thus the individual can step in and out jobs perhaps with ease. There are jobs
of mind and jobs of hand. The Minimalist may prefer jobs of the hand since this leaves the mind free. This kind of work may also equate to less stress and responsibility. Work of the mind requires concentration and may limit awareness outside the perameters of the job. It may also involve greater stress, responsibility and more time, expanding even into off-work hours. The Minimalist as short term, does not necessarily get overly involved with either the job or job politics. In such cases they can always be honest, always do what is best to promote the welfare of their fellows and possibly also for a decent employer relative to the product produced.
