In certain sets charity is a required thing. Sonoma an ex, still has that lamp at her place. Nadia was going to do some sewing I guess. She put an antique sewing-machine in our apartment. We put it in the north-east corner between the windows and I used it as a sculpture display stand. Nadia ran off with a guy who was working for the Salvation Army and I never heard of her again, and she didn't return for her machine. She was great person and I lost another good one there.
I was getting quite an education. No amount of money could ever acquire; the erudition I got. Every form of art, to living the-set on-stage; the first reality show. And there was politics, the war, and the biggest threat to capitalism since Marxism the hippies - somehow conveniently converted to hippie-fashion. I had seen the East and West. The police-state carried over from the 2nd World War, a coup; a harbor-smite, culminating with McCarthy; and then went underground. I had first-hand experience of it all. I was not re-enlisting, although I do-much appreciate the service.
People thinking differently. I was studying; that was what I-was - studying. I needed a constant. Every one sees the same-thing. The thing - my sculpture could be moved to all sorts of different settings, including backdrop-views across the city, in some context looking through. A mad scientist, I could engage complete sensory response to my creations; as it turned out different with each person as they first-saw it.
