The other event I remember at this time was the diaper caper. Sonoma had a diaper service and they came once a week with fresh diapers and picked up the soiled. We were living sixteen addresses down the street from Two Winfield and my pottery shop at this time. Shortly before Sonoma was due home I was running short of money. So I could have used that extra cash after all. They came with the diapers and I told him to let me go for a week or two until Sonoma got back. They charged by the week. He refused and said no fresh diapers unless I paid. I said I couldn't afford it and would make it up when she got back. So he left no diapers. But he didn't take the soiled. So I took them down to the laundromat and washed and dried them myself. They didn't come back the next week or the next, but maybe a month or two later and it was someone else to get the diapers and we told him those people had moved. A bunch of diapers like that aren't cheap and I was pretty miffed they would not trust and give me some slack. So we just kept the diapers. Not sure but don't think they had Pampers the way they do now, but if they did we were probably against the concept of these throwaway landfill loaders.
