The operation of Will,
is said to require three elements: as a
Steady State,
a Replica State and an Ego. The Will represents intellegence, awareness, choice, decision-making, reasoning, memory or deliberation.
The Will as a decision maker chooses between differing
criterion, which requires an awareness of a
Plane
of Distinction. The plane of Distinction contains any number of entities that can be distinguished,
one from another, and that engage the Ego in some
manner of choice making. The Plane of Distinction must be a Steady State that is consistent and reliable, since otherwise any choice would be meaningless, if its object was continually changing. The Plane of Distinction must also be independent of the Will, since otherwise the Will could only choose from its Replica State, which
may continually reinforce its own version of itself.
Opposite to the Plane of Distinction must be a
Replica State or memory, that is a copy of the Plane of Distinction, which would require a different dimension, since it must possess opposite attributes. It must be alterable, changeable, flexible, malleable, modifiable, pliable, or creative. This changeability is necessary for the creation of alternatives as choice to the Plane of Distinction. The Replica State as we know our own minds consists in a conscious and unconscious memory,
as possibly the two halves of the brain left and right.
The Ego is the decision maker. The Ego requires an awareness of both the Plane of Distinction and the Replica State. The Ego of the human type is of a different dimension than the Plane of Distinction
as non-physical, in the sense that it has not been located in material space. The question then arises as to whether it is the same or distinct from the Replica State. The
Thinking I would apparently be thought process and thus an aspect of the Replica State. However the fact
of awareness is more difficult to pin down. Awareness
is apparent even with the absence of thought processes. If one considers the validity of out of body experience, then awareness would transcend the body and more than that, out of body experience and awareness may include thinking.
