The specific means of Metaphysical-I guidance suggested here has not to do with the capacity of memory per say but rather connectivity. A good or excellent memory, if not a necessity, is a certain convenience. However it is suggested that the inability of connection in specific instances, may allow the Metaphysical-I intervention. Thus it is not so much a poor memory but rather the timing of connectivity, or the length of time it might take the memory to recall a specific, such as the name of a movie actor, a particular event or a piece of gossip maybe one should keep to themselves in any case.
A pertinent analogy might be from a Sherlock Holmes story called
'A Study in Scarlet'. Holmes says to Watson,
"I consider that a man's brain originally is like a little empty attic, and you have to stock it with such furniture as you choose. A fool takes in all the lumber of every sort that he comes across, so that the knowledge which might be useful to him gets crowded out, or at best is jumbled up with a lot of other things, so that he has a difficulty in laying his hands upon it." The 'little empty attic' is the memory. He goes on to say, "Now the skilful workman is very careful indeed as to what he takes into his brain-attic. He will have nothing but the tools which may help him in doing his work, but of these he has a large assortment, and all in the most perfect order. It is a mistake to think that that little room has elastic walls and can distend to any extent. Depend upon it there comes a time when for every addition of knowledge you forget something that you knew before. It is of the highest importance, therefore, not to have useless facts elbowing out the useful ones." The Holmes psychology here is not learn knowledge not useful
to one's pursuits. This would be considered here a mistake. Any knowledge may be useful.
In this case useful is distinguished from un-useful, and pertaining to this theory,
knowledge would not be ignored, but rather assigned significance based on
contexts of priorities, and recall of the resource would be by memory-connectivity or Memory Dictate.
In the search for knowledge one begins with questions. The object here is discover what the questions are, and then to relate anything one comes across
in one's normal course of the day, to any given problem if it should apply. However the questions can be manifold with some identified just lately, some somewhat old, and some many years old and forgotten. It would be quite impractical to keep all these many processes in the conscious mind, which as suggested above in the Sherlock Holmes analogy, the conscious mind would become so cluttered as to perhaps lock-up.
These sorts of processes might be left to the Unconscious, which is assumed to be all the memory that is generated by the experience of the sensory system, but which cannot and is unnecessary to use, or even be aware of. Utilizing the Unconscious memory would be to massively increase it's size. The Metaphysical-I is considered capable of influencing the Unconscious, and its various facets, such as intuition, the muse, spirit guides, and particularly to help regulate the consciousness of the individual, to some greater or lesser degree.
