This concept as it is manifested in human affairs, is that the natural world is to some greater or lesser degree a sacred place and thus humankind must respect its natural order and therefore must keep its Progressive tendencies in check. Material and progressive development would need to be controlled and limited out of respect for preserving the natural and spiritual world. Progressive Materialism is volitional. Conservative Spirituality
is prohibitive.
From this perspective, fundamentalism in a general sense, can be considered
as Conservative, specifically
wherein the pre-existent states of the natural reality may be considered as
sacred and thus progressive development as practiced particularly by the
secular segments of culture may be disapproved of. The Buddhist state of
Bhutan may be considered as Conservative, perhaps the last truly
conservative state on the planet, where most progressive development
is prohibited.
Religions such as Christianity and specifically the teachings of Christ may
have originally been Conservative, or to have considered spirituality to
be inherent in any aspects of the natural and or human created worlds.
Because spirituality is prohibitive of free action and the accumulation of
wealth and power, and an excess of material assets, it is generally expropriated by Progressives who want it both ways. Much of organized religion becomes Progressive and abandons Conservative aspects. For instance organized
religion needs for its existence to be funded and supported by its members.
Thus the practices of capitalistic economic enterprises, progressive
development and the accumulation of Excess and Profit of its members,
may not be discouraged, but may be promoted. Organized progressive
religions become charitable organizations. They cease to stress
the equality of all people in this world and accept and indeed take the form of progressive hierarchies themselves. Thus these churches have a tendency to overlook the the strict Ethics of Spirituality
in favor of the Morality of Progressive
Materialism.
Fundamentalist religion is the province of Progressive Materialism. Because progressive religions create a dual state of consequence, as to what is sacred,
consecrated, divine or blessed, and what can be used and exploited, they are dualistic.
