The only choice for those opposed to such engineering will be to immediately begin the use of hermetically sealed growing gardens. And if you don't want to eat engineered foods, forget it. They are not going to tell you whether the food that you purchase is engineered or not.
The geneticists response is that genetically modified crops are not harmful humans, even though it is not proven for a certainty over the long range, and
if that had anything to do with the issue. Further they reason like the true
fascist, genetic imperialism is really a good thing because they are producing superior breeds, improving upon nature, improving on an ecology that is millions of years in the making and improving on God. Further problems with this cross contamination is that no one knows what the long range affects will be, and obviously since they are moving ahead with all possible speed, they don't much care. The actual growing practice of this science is maybe less than 10 years old. Much as they cannot always account for the side affects of drugs on people especially in terms of specific individuals, and varying drugs in combinations
with each other, how is it possible for them to determine what these genetically altered plants all mixed together in the environment will be. Plants such as the dandelion or rose or any of thousands of others, could end up with engineered genes of disease resistance to fungus, resistance to pesticides, resistance to specific insects, growth enhancement, heat or cold resistance and soon the whole ecology so constructed over millennium is gone. This mixing of
engineered genes is known as horizontal gene transfer, or the direct transfer
of genetic material to unrelated species, that is now reported to already be happening. Engineered plants that resist pesticides may end up creating what
are called 'Super Weeds' or plants that cannot be controlled with pesticides much like the super bacteria that are said to come about from the overuse of antibiotics.
Plants that engineered to produce their own pesticides may end up causing
insects to develop resistance creating 'super bugs'.
The genetic engineering of plants so that they cannot reproduce themselves, meaning produce seed, exemplifies the profit incentive that always underlies
the motives of fascists and the elite ideals they seek and wish for themselves
to emulate.
