There is the consideration as to who is it is that becomes the recipient of
Metempiric Power beyond the ordinary use of white and black magic, sorcery,
healing or other mystical facilities. Historically the shaman and later the monarch was said to be the possessor of Metempiric Power for the purpose of acting
as the intermediary between man and the spirit world or God. Since the succession of the monarchy is normally always by birthright, it must be assumed that the power was considered inherited, or that this power resided in the office itself. Or it is more likely that the holder of this power did not possess any true Metempiric Power, but rather the fiction was supported as prop for the
continuation of the rule of those in power. In some sects the possessor can
come from anywhere, and thus must be found or discovered, given special training and assume the duties of the leader of the organization. In other scenarios such as in the shaman tradition, specific individuals are discovered
to have special powers at a young age and are thus schooled in the arts.
However the individual is quite capable of discovering these powers on
one's own, and may or may not be able to wend oneself through the
intricacies of the psychological, intellectual, emotional and spiritual maze
that the introduction and practice of such powers produces. If one is not supported by an organization, it may be best that the person remain
anonymous, since these kinds of powers are considered as evil by many
people and organizations, and because they may be considered a threat to
some who possess the levers of ordinary civic, military and religious power.
The concept of the lone anonymous sorcerer may be the true channel for the
power of the source, since it is from the ordinary that one may have the least possibility of becoming corrupted. However without help, it may be the most difficult path to negotiate.
