The Identity represents the Interpretive Personification of the Thinking-I as context for acting in the world. The Identity of fireman fights fires. Where the Ego represents Interpretive Personification of a single body anchored in physical viscosity, the Identity represents the creation by the mind, of any number of contexts of varying and different perspectives, as anything from detective, magician, stock broker to astronaut, well-driller or mathematician; of which the individual may switch between - like a con artist, actor or multiple personality disorder.

The Ego and the Identity are opposite in nature and construct. Interpretive Personification through the Ego represents the singular body. The Interpretive Personification of the Identity represents any degree of a multiplicity of constructed personifications, which may or may not correspond to the Ego. The Ego and Identities may correspond or be antithetical to each other. One or the other, the Ego or the Identity may be dominant. A dominant Ego means in general that propensities of the body type take precedence over the intellectually created Identity, whereas a dominant Identity means vice-versa.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The Ego is considered material. The Ego is the Interpretive Personification of the physical body, through which the Thinking-I interprets the physical reality. The Identity as a construct of the Thinking-I is for most people a likeness of and corresponds to the Ego, which represents attributes of the body. Thus the Identity is considered as material also. A multiplicity of Identities may be created most of which are material also. When one takes spirituality or religion it generally means that they create and establish a spiritual or religious Identity called a Transcendent Identity, which is based on non-material attributes. A Transcendent Identity is Interpretive Personification through generally non-physical attributes. The Transcendent Identity transcends the materiality of the Ego. as .................... corresponds to the physical Ego. The Material Identity defines and authenticates the self by the Ego.

In the vast majority of all cases the Identity is singular. This means that the individual is expected to and does adopt a singular Identity, which may persist for a lifetime. Persons may change Identities without considering it as such, like changing political parties, religions or occupations, of which some people are more capable than others. Those with multiple Identities are considered abnormal, devious, untrustworthy and/or pathological. However the ability of Compassion can be considered the ability to understand other persons and creatures point of view, which may engender if not necessitate the ability to adopt various Identities of others.

There are various cultural Identities which correspond and are relative to a multiplicity of institutions, that one may be inculcated into or adopt, such as nationality, religion, education, professional and social clubs and or thousands of others. Any of these Identities may conflict with one's Ego, such as the Identity of soldier does not suit one's passive and sweet disposition, or the Identity of party goer does not accord with one's natural need for lots of sleep. In such cases one has what is called a Contending Identity. Institutionalized Identities are constructed based on the ideals of the community at large, and thus the personification is one size fits all. In these cases the Identity is suppose to be dominant over the Ego, and the Ego as the natural self, may be considered as detrimental, such as natural sexual desires, lack or ambition or natural shyness.

A Parallel Identity means that the Ego and Identity correspond with most aspects of the body type. In primitive and indigenous cultures, Identities are limited and generally grounded in the natural world based on the Ego. Cultures with high degrees of technology create the necessity of specialties, each of which may be an Identity, many of which would conflict with the Ego. A Parallel Identity would match the natural propensities of the body and Ego like the Identity of librarian suits one's preference for peace and quiet, or athlete suits the athleticism of one's body.
