Democratic Capitalism,
Socialism and Communism are all
materialist. From the materialist perspective the reason, purpose and
meaning of human existence is the progressive accumulation of intellectual and material properties. The argument between the principles of freedom and equality is not of the validity of material acquirement, but of the equitable distribution of the services and products of the economic output. Democratic Capitalism is
Progressive. The emphasis is upon the progressive accumulation of material economic assets with as few restrictions as possible. Thus the ideal of freedom is essentially progressive.
This means that freedom based upon the volitional abilities that are acquired by the progressive development of technology and private accusation and access
to same such as auto and air travel, access to communication of the telephone
or internet, satellite services, vacation resorts or tourist destinations. Socialism and Communism are in essence
Conservative. This means that the emphasis of human endeavor is on the cultural ambiance as shared experience of public properties and institutions as available to the whole community, such as libraries, parks, preserves, co-operatives of various forms, hospitals, schools and educational centers, cafes, restaurants, sports facilities or public media, which may be publicly or privately owned. Concern is for the preservation, integrity and ambiance of the existing institutions as opposed to the utilization of public resources for private purposes.
