The concept of Democracy, probably
by its general conception and usage, implies two fundamental principles of human ideal, as the principles of freedom and equality. What may not be understood is that these two concepts are opposed and antithetical to each
other. The political and economic battlegrounds of the principles of freedom and equality have been and still are the antagonism between Democratic Capitalism and fascist
Communism.
Freedom is the absence of controls on human thought, word and deed. Freedom means individuality. Freedom in terms of human political and social relations is the absence or the limitation of laws and regulations, rules and requirements. Freedom means as little centralized authority or government as possible. The individual is said to be able to enjoy the freedom to use whatever resources available, to promote private agendas of the individual and group such as the accumulation of property, the development of talent, the promotion of the self or charity. Nearly every aspect of human relations in capitalist economies is influenced by or is relative to money. The amount of income and assets one possesses determines the degree of volitional abilities, like anything from the restaurant one can afford to go, the amount of traveling one can do if any, the living standard, the number of hours one must work, who one can associate with, the type of education one can afford, the kind of entertainment, or the access one can have to elite and political and cultural institutions. Money is the vehicle of achieving things like the freedom to travel, to have dream homes or produce great works. But the achievement of hopes and dreams and the accumulation of property and power does not promote social equality but instead class systems in which some achieve to a greater extent than others and splinter culturally and socially into elites and commoners.
