Some people would sit in for a day, a friend or visitor-relative of one of our bunch. One guy one-day a first timer, announced he was Jewish as his inroduction. Who else does it ? O by the way I'm a Christian. Perhaps he was afraid of anti-Semitism or a Jewish joke. So we had to discuss Jewish and I remember the subject, whether to do something like charity for non-profit pleasure or do it for the well-being but why not get paid was the Jewish position here. So that was a discussion and all was settled and fine when was it Joe or someone sits down an hour later and starts to tell a Jewish joke. Oh big hullabaloo and were-we not all embarrassed with our new found friend. Well he was a one dayer.

Another one dayer or it may have been two or three and the occasional, was an artist who was the ex wife of a National League football player from the Midwest, divorced but with a lot of money and she had rented a big studio out by Hunter's Point and Candlestick Park. She was an artist who made money doing art for customers. I was an artist of ceramic sculpture, who didn't make any money and did it for myself, like my writing is now.

I was to her studio a few times. I could have worked for her - glass work, jewellery, metal-casting whatever the job called for. I could have been interested in her romantically, but wasn't and was not interested in art as a business either.

And there was another artist or so I was told though I never saw what he did. He was an older guy, pot belly generally jelly, light sandy hair crumply dressed. He worked for the city as an installation booth installer at the Convention Center on Howard Street down-town, formally a hole in the ground and big homeless encampment.
