The individual is not dependent upon the community of humans for every physical, emotional and religious or spiritual need or superfluity. Thus an individual may possess a degree of independence that also imparts potentials of character development that may be unknown to many others.
A spiritual reality may be considered as a single unified Whole, wherein everything is interdependent with everything else. The character of the perception is one who perceives reality more in terms of the sensations and feeling of the general environment or the air, trees, grass and shrubs, birds, animals, insects or human aesthetic endeavors rather than the evaluative function of intellect. The condition of the environment is primarily sensory as it does not express itself in verbal terms. Symbolic Consciousness can be thought of something akin to what is called magical thinking in children. Magical thinking is possible where there are no limits placed by the individual upon what is and is not possible. If thunder is thought to be God bowling in heaven, then this can be accepted as a possibility, if the individual has not restricted the contingency with the limitation of impossibility. A starting point for the development of Symbolic Consciousness could be said to be where
the limitations of the Mundane Consciousness or the restrictions of definitive, singular, finite or specific Interpretive Context are suspended or abandoned by the individual. Thus for instance if a person defines themselves by the singularities of name, family, possessions, religion, education or profession, all of which limit the individual to a very specific and singular identity, then that specific personality will determine what the individual will think say and do or attempt to do.
