In between Ice Ages, when the orbit and tilt is less severe, the temperatures of the natural world are regulated by the plankton in the sea called Phytoplankton. The plankton eat or absorb Carbon Dioxide from the atmosphere. The cooler the ocean temperatures, indicative in this instance of a cooling of the planet, the less hospitable for the propagation of plankton, which means less plankton and less Carbon Dioxide is absorbed, which builds up in the atmosphere and causes a warming. The reverse should be true when the water gets warmer. More plankton absorbs more Carbon Dioxide, which means that less heat is trapped, and the atmosphere gets cooler. This process keeps the atmospheric temperatures of the planet stable between a plus or minus eight degrees.
Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, the 'progressive' inclinations of humankind, have produced and are continuing to put ever increasing amounts
of Green House Gases into the atmosphere, such as Carbon Dioxide mostly from the burning of foil fuels, Nitrous Oxides from industrial uses and fertilizers, and CFCs which are used as refrigerants in air conditioners and refrigerators, and foam packaging materials and spray cans. Methane is also increasing, which comes from Biomass, or things like rotting organic matter and garbage. This in combination with the destruction of the world's forests, where trees like plankton, absorb carbon from the atmosphere, as the theory would have it, should and apparently is warming the planetary atmosphere. If the surface temperatures of the oceans increase, the plankton should increase. But if there is to much Green House Gas for the plankton or the trees to absorb, then the planet should continue to warm.
The predictions concerning the theory of warming, when given credence
by the authorities, has consisted in the melting of the ice caps, a rise
in sea level and nothing much more, all of which would take hundreds if
not thousands of years. But evidence of the 1990s, as the hottest decade
in recorded history, and polar ice cap shrinkage, may indicate that the
warming is proceeding much faster than thought. There are also indications
of other phenomenon. This is the advent of 'super storms' such as destroyed the countries of Nicaragua and Mozambique, and unprecedented damage from rain in Venezuela and North Carolina, USA.
