The use of Authority Reasoning is most often practiced by people who are termed Right Wing. This is because they are most dependent upon progressed states and standards as progressive elitism. Individual consequence and worth is indexed as progressed from the bottom, by the accumulation of material assets without which they consider themselves worthless. This is true in both the secular and religious worlds, as the accumulation of material assets or the accumulation of heaven's blessing. It could be said that Untruth is of greater consequence for these persons than is worthlessness. But again, since Truth is an ideal and progressed standard in and of itself, the fact that these people live lives of Untruth, means a suppression of Truth in the subconscious.
The practice of Authority Reasoning is not limited to the
Right Wing but is utilized to one degree or another by almost everyone, and is applicable to
Liberals, and those motivated by humanitarian concerns.
One may lie about or exaggerate specific dangers, such as marijuana use or light drinking, when these vices are opposed
to one's own value system, and lying is considered in the interest of, and benefit to those whom it is aimed. These kinds of people may use lies as a motivating factor to get people to assume what is considered more proper, healthful or beneficial conduct. Lying to others in these cases is considered necessary for the good of the recipient. Lying may be deemed necessarily so important, if it is used to save other's souls, to stop an abortion, or to promote a good cause. It is used to save people embarrassment or to protect them from harmful knowledge.
