We made a lot of repairs in up to a dozen buildings, big old Victorian beasts that summer and the Professor was given a student crew to do the painting. I did some painting as well and the Professor challenged me to a contest. His crew would paint a room largish like a big living room, no windows no closets, and I by myself would paint an identical room next to it and it would be a race. Well I beat a dozen student painters but it was not fair because they really didn't know what they were doing.

The next winter between semesters Christmas break we went back. One building in particular had to have a lot of work done and we had just patched and painted it in the summer. Athletes and business majors which apparently is a collegiate pairing, kind of like business and sports in one's newspaper. This was a new building on the lake front, Spanish style, tiled roofs, two stories, four sided open air courtyard in the middle with a fountain. They were famous that fall semester for hazing some fraternity wannabe students by tying them up naked on the bank of the lake all night, so that they almost froze to death.

At another time they decided they needed a bonfire in the center of the open air courtyard. They tore down the wood fence on the street side, took the gas tank off a motorcycle for incendiary, and made a bonfire that was so hot that the fire department couldn't get in to put it out. The damage inside was extensive. One guy painted the whole of one wall in his room with an ink drawing of some cave man scape.
