MaryM was a Mormon from Utah, a Virgo and worked as a secretary. She was doing a cultural upgrade with the painting class. She was tall, shoulder-length blonde hair, very fair complected, good figure and laid-back, likely astonished personality. She had a green Volkswagen bug. Think we started out as roommates and ended up as lovers. I know we went to a local bar and restaurant over at Precita Park, and I left her presence and flirted with another woman for about a half an hour. She got fairly upset. I did not ever figure out, if that was an act of rudeness on my part, or since we were not an item, I was within my rights. We became lovers at some point.

At the Art Institute I took ceramics, etching, lithography, drawing and painting is what I can remember. I really liked the lithograph stone. Unfortunately I could not draw, having decided to be an artist with no previous training or practice. At some point in high school I decided to be a political cartoonist but that lasted about a week. And one might have ideas, but without the knowledge of the techniques to produce them, one ends up being capable of very little. I was also interested in weaving introduced to me by Judy and MaryT, especially weaving with silk. I had plans to build a correspondent loom but didn't get around to it.

That year I went home for Christmas and was away for maybe two weeks. When I got back a hole had been punched in the wall in MaryM's room. MaryM's ex-boyfriend had been to visit. He was not too happy with her living with me.
