This house was across the street from a sound wall and the 101 freeway across which was General Hospital, at the bottom of the crookedest street in the city, actually a contest with Lombard Street over across town, but no tourists around this place; and a lot of homeless draggling by. The house was way back from the road and could not be seen through trees and shrubbery - a forest. It was a long uphill driveway, that slanted from the very north of the property down at the street to nearly the south-side property-line in front of the house, which was surrounded on three sides by huge eucalyptus trees, and a hill ascended in an L shape on the north back-side to a high cliff in the back-east with some big cactus there as well. .

It was a fantastic house accept the freeway noise which was hardly noticeable inside but a hum nevertheless. I had the big back bedroom width of the house. I lived there three to four-maybe months; and then invited Sonoma to come and live with me; her situation not working or something. The rent was raised to four-hundred for the two of us. I didn't like living by myself. Big windows three walls of my room, a back door to back yard, wooded and cliffed, grey-blue carpet, wood book shelves built in both sides the internal wall; huge wood beams 4 x12s stained; under tongue and grove wood ceiling. I posed many my still-left sculptures around the room; my last exhibition. It was quite pleasant.
