They and such seeming to be having such a great time that I thought maybe I would rather be out there than in my nice cozy tent. So I offered my tent to whoever would want it, and volunteered to sit up all night around the fire. I was surprised at who accepted my offer. They were the two guys who were the group leaders, the authorities on everything, the Eagle Scouts, the orders givers, the ones everyone looked up too, and the ideal of all the parents.
And here I a just-joined tenderfoot, a no-nothing was better equipped than they were. Not only that I thought, they were the captains, they were suppose to go down with the ship. They were suppose to let the weakest amongst us have the tent not themselves, the supposed best prepared for everything. They the great scout leaders were suppose to sit up and brave the night if they didn't bring the right equipment. Meanwhile long around midnight this sitting up swatting mosquitoes was getting old. But I didn't have the nerve to roust these intrepid dreamers from their slumbers. Turned to become the way of the world except my bomb disposal Captain in the army who he himself went out with his sargent first-class seven side-kick to disarm the bomb be there such.
I headed out of the woods into the slew in the general direction of town. The terrain was for the most part cow pasture with mud holes, swampy, mucky areas, sink holes and cattails. I decided to take a direct line to town straight across the swamp.
