The Ego represents the singular body and a single interpretive context, of which one will possess all of one's life. One can make some alterations as by weight lifting, cosmetic surgery, beefing-up or dieting, but essentially one is stuck with what one is born with.
The conception of Identities represents any degree of a multiplicity as constructed
Interpretive Personifications. Identity means that the Ego has the capacity to create Identities, as out-of-body conjecture, which represent ambitions, desires, objectives, dreams and fantasy, any of which the body in and of itself may have no need, or which in fact may be dangerous to it, like the ambition of the Identity of race car or motorcycle driver. Identity personifications can be in harmony or in contradiction to the Ego. Thus the psychology of the individual may be innately conflicted. Cultural Identities as ideals may be in total conflict with the Ego such as the skinny fashion model or beefed-up boxer.
The universality of human experience, the commonalities and agreement of sensory experience are all to be found in the similarities of Ego, which are all fairly alike. On the level of the Ego, anybody can talk to anybody in terms of the commonalities of bodily experience, like old people who may continually though strangers, find commonality in their physical problems and pains. However it would seem the human condition is a psychology divided against itself.
Human conflict starts with the construction of Identities which can take so many forms, and can be based on love or hate, on class, wealth, crime, violence, superiority, enemies, occupations, political, religious or artistic expression. An identity based on love might be like motherhood, and an Identity based on hate might be like a gang member where hate is used as justification for theft.
