But this inherent Progressive propensity is antithetical and incompatible with the natural world. The results and products of Excess and Profit, rather than contributing to the continuation of pre-existent states, results in the destruction of these and transforms them from their original constitution, to become ultimately waste, garbage and landfill which serves no useful purpose in the long run. The inability of the environment to support an ever increasing demand, as material to produce ever more Excess and Profit for an ever increasing population is becoming quite clear.

The concept of Excess and Profit might be sustainable if it were not Progressive, but was limited to replacement of what was already developed at some stage, like a nineteen-sixty level, which would have to include the stabilization of the population, and wherein there was in place a system of complete recycling. This might be possible if it were not for the spiritual absence which occurs with the introduction of Excess and Profit, and which is said here to be the divergence from a spiritual to a material consciousness. The difference between Necessity and Subsistence and Excess and Profit produces two distinct evaluations as the worth and consequence of any state or entity of the physical world. If a spiritual identity could be said to be an assessment of self-worth and consequence, as an identification with the natural world, in which the very act of existence in nature were considered as spiritual and Conservative, wherein changed states promote the existence of pre-existent ones, then a conservative state of frozen assets and development might be possible.
