On its face, the candidate is not free to represent ideas and ideals based on conviction but rather is required to represent that which people with money to give are interested in. But more than that, with a system of 'Winner Take All', in which only one candidate will win a seat in the government, rather than seats being apportioned according to the percentage of votes cast as in America, the candidate will have to represent those ideas and ideals which appeal to that segment of the financial contributors with the most money.

The more it costs to run for election, the fewer individuals that can afford it, and the more likely only those who represent those with the most money will be capable of running for office. The reason it costs so much to run for political office in America is because the capitalists control all the means of mass communication such as the newspapers, radio and television for which there are no reduced rates for political candidates. Socialist media, what little there is of it, which is supported with government subsidies, is not allowed to promote political preference, which is ever so convenient for those who prefer that only money be the means of free speech. Thus it is that almost no-one can afford to run for anything but local office, except those who are independently wealthy or who will represent the perspectives of individuals and organizations with the most money to contribute.

Any individual or organization can contribute to political campaigns. However the recipient organs of political contributions tend to concentrate into two basic organizational collectors called political parties. These parties represent the capitalists, or the owners and managers of the wealth and everybody else. The combination of the dependence upon money for election campaigns and the 'Winner take All' formula for representation, wherein only one candidate from a district is able to hold a seat in government, causes the elected officials to support legislation that promotes the interests of the monetary backers or else legislation which funnels money from the larger government down to the local constituency - where the votes are - or both. The out candidates are capable of doing nothing for their constituents and thus are at a distinct if not impossible disadvantage.
